Ensuring Social & Environmental Value Creation

“What matters is the value we’ve created in our lives, the people we’ve made happy and how much we’ve grown as people.” — Daisaku Ikeda

We believe that there are 5 key pillars we should focus on to guide us as we create a better Aid Model: Ensuring Social & Environmental Value Creation is our 3rd Pillar.

United Nations Sustainable Development Goal 12 (SDG12) underlies every other Sustainable Development Goal, including ending poverty and hunger, fighting inequalities, protecting the planet and ensuring peace.

SDG12 is a great social, economic and environmental opportunity. It presents an excellent chance to change the current status quo of production and consumption of goods.

Over the past 18 months, multiple crises have provided an opportunity for people to re-evaluate their priorities. Creating more sustainable and equitable economies is the only way to prevent further pandemics and climate change, while simultaneously generating growth.

Sustainable consumption and production can also contribute substantially to poverty alleviation with Targets like 12.3, which aims to ensure that by 2030, we halve the per capita global food waste at the retail and consumer levels and reduce food losses along production and supply chains, including post-harvest losses.

SDG12 sets the framework to create long-term value and supporting environmental goals. We’re looking forward to joining others on the journey.
