Supporting South Africans on their path to self-sufficiency

The #BeyondAid2030 Campaign centers around the belief that sustainable progress comes from empowering individuals and communities to become self-sufficient.  We understand that aid is essential during times of crisis, but we also recognise the importance of fostering independence and resilience.

The #BeyondAid2030 Campaign promotes collaboration in developing and implementing more effective solutions that ensure inclusive and equitable development, empower marginalised communities and promote self sufficiency.

An opportunity to change our traditional aid models and leave no one behind

In 2015, the United Nations established 17 Global Goals to eradicate poverty, tackle climate change and promote peace and equality worldwide.  By adopting the 2030 Agenda, South Africa and its fellow UN Member States committed to “no one being left behind” and striving to help those furthest behind first.

The Global Goals provide us with an opportunity to revolutionise outdated aid models and create stories that inspire future generations to strive for self-reliance.  By tackling crucial aspects such as poverty alleviation, inclusive economic growth and the development of innovative and resilient infrastructure, we can ensure equitable access to resources and opportunities for all.

Since 2010, we’ve been promoting self-sufficiency by empowering individuals through our Xchange Programs.  Rather than providing mere handouts, we provide a hand up, creating long-lasting positive change.  In 2017, we partnered with Xchange Connexion to develop the Xchange Program.  It rewards Changemakers in marginalised communities for contributing time to approved community projects.
